Developed by Jim Breen (now retired from Monash University), this is a popular Japanese-English dictionary. The main dictionary contains over 100 thousand entries. It also includes a dictionary on Japanese proper names and several subject-specific dictionaries.

This is my absolute favorite dictionary. It has so many words, and if you write a verb in its -te form, it can figure out which one you really meant.
And you can take apart the kanji in a compound if needed. I use this dictionary more than my own.
